About The Class

This 50-minute class is designed to make strength, movement, and balance exercises more accessible.

Much of the class can be completed while seated, with some exercises performed standing. A chair is used throughout the class for exercise and support.

You may also use light dumbbells, resistance bands, and balance equipment depending on the day’s exercises.

Who Is This Class Best Suited For?

This class may be a good fit if you:

  • are managing chronic health challenges,
  • have a history of injury or limited mobility,
  • prefer additional support with standing or balance, or
  • find traditional fitness classes difficult or inaccessible.

Exercises can be adjusted to meet a range of abilities and comfort levels.

Class fee: $20, payable by cash or e-transfer
Maximum class size: 10 participants

Your first class is free to try.

Please call ahead so we know to expect you.

On The Day of Your First Class

Please arrive 10 minutes early so we can welcome you, introduce you to the space and class format, and have you complete a participation waiver.

Meet Your Instructor

Meet Andres (he/him)! A registered Kinesiologist and specialist in the management and prevention of chronic health conditions through exercise. 

He helps clients with health challenges including recurring pain, arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, high blood pressure.

Andres’ approach is informed by his many qualifications which include:

  • Master’s degree in Kinesiology
  • Post-Grad Diploma in Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion
  • Senior’s Fitness Instructor Course, The Canadian Centre For Activity and Aging

Active Muscles

About The Class

This 50 minute class is designed to build functional strength and balance to support everyday activites like getting up from a chair, climbing stairs, and carrying groceries.

This is achieved through low-impact exercises targeting major muscle groups.

Participants use dumbbells, exercise bands, balance pods and a yoga mat.

Who is this class best for?

The class is ideal for 65+ people who are:

  • comfortable standing for longer periods of time, and
  • are looking to minimize the effect of aging, maintain independence and improve quality of life. 

 

Registration Details: 

Classes are available to book online and are $20 + HST per class. Advanced registration is requested. Maximum capacity: 10.
