Fitness is a lifelong journey and we’re in it with you for the long haul.

We're invested in your journey to a healthy & sustainable relationship with exercise.

Meet millie & adrian

We created a safe space for you to re-imagine your relationship with fitness.

A welcoming, community-focused third place to empower your quality of life.

We appreciate that exercise is not everyone’s passion and that it can be a struggle to start or maintain a healthy fitness habit.

We created Recess Fit Club to make exercise accessible to people who want to feel strong in their bodies, and exercise thoughtfully and sustainably.

Our values drive everything we do:

  1. Make fitness approachable and unintimidating.
  2. Prioritize safety and technique.
  3. Provide alternatives so exercise is never painful.
  4. Be inclusive and create a safe gym space for every body.

OUR STORY

We're here to take the guesswork out building a sustainable fitness routine.

This translates through our dedication to teaching you how to exercise as a life skill, and for championing building a compassionate relationship between yourself and your fitness routine.

Recess Fit Club is a family business which opened in October 2022. Run by husband and wife team Adrian (he/him) and Millie (she/her).

This translates through our dedication to teaching you how to exercise as a life skill, and for championing building a compassionate relationship between oneself and with one’s fitness routine.

We chose the name Recess Fit Club to evoke a sense of playfulness and inclusivity. We are proud to welcome you into a space that is unintimidating, vibrant and joyful. We’re so excited to share it with you.

We built this place by hand. Millie hand-painted all of the murals and built all of the furniture. Adrian hand-selected all the equipment that his many years of personal training taught him is most effective (and fun) to use.

RECESS FIT CLUB HEAD TRAINER

Adrian's all about pain-free exercise.

A welcoming, community-focused third place to empower your quality of life.

Adrian Nicola’s fitness journey began later in life. At 40, he decided to leave the office behind to become a full time personal trainer with a focus on pain-free exercise.

Formerly the head of the personal training team at the West End YMCA, Adrian brings not just professional expertise but a genuine understanding of individual fitness journeys.  Navigating challenges like bone spurs, a hip impingement, and arthritis affecting his own journey, he understands the necessity for a personalized approach to exercise (including participating in a group class setting).

Adrian has supported his clients in building a resilient and sustainable relationship with fitness that starts with listening to your body and is underlined with practicing self-compassion through the ups and downs of your fitness routine.

Adrian, Head Trainer

I love these classes! It’s 50 minutes of being satisfying and gratifying fitness, designed to welcome people of all fitness levels and ages, so that you can work at an intensity that is sufficiently challenging for you, without peer pressure. The attendees are friendly and it’s a supportive, body-positive environment.

We appreciate that exercise is not everyone’s passion and that it is sometimes a struggle to start or maintain a healthy fitness habit.

We created Recess Fit Club to make it easy to get great workouts in a welcoming approachable environment with beginners in mind.

We’re here to empower you to make fitness a compliment to your lifestyle.
